Just a Bad Hair Day...

Most of us have woken up one morning to find that no matter what we do or try, we just have to accept the brutal fact that, we are indeed going to have a bad hair day...

Thelma Thrush is certainly having a bad feather day. Possibly a bad feather week!
She looks quite put out that Prunella has unfortunately noticed her just dragged through the hedge look...

The local House Martin decides it's probably best to keep his head down and pretend that he hasn't noticed Thelma's rather dishevelled appearance...

Not so with the very outspoken, loud mouthed Drake Mallard whilst out for a stroll with his pretty partner.
"Oh my, did you see the state of Thelma? What a fright!" quacked Drake.
"I'm not looking," muttered Doris Duck highly embarrassed. "If you haven't a good word to say about the dear old bird, I suggest you keep your bill tightly shut!"

Off the pair waddled and quacked, Drake looking a little sheepish...

L💗VE IS ALL AROUND...

Woody Wood Pigeon is a proud handsome bird with his pinkish breast and green, white and purple patch on his neck...

He waddles over to ask for some advice from his old friend Dee Dee the Collared Dove...

Dee Dee is the local Agony Aunt for all things love related...

Woody Wood Pigeon explains that his new found love Wendeline has been a little distant lately and would appreciate some tips from Dee Dee on how to woo his dear Wendeline...

Wednesday was a day of rain in Prunella's Patch.
The hibiscus and hydrangea enjoyed some much needed watering...

As Prunella watched from the comfort of her kitchen window, she could see that Dee Dee's advice was obviously invaluable. Even the constant raindrops hadn't dampened the affection the two pigeons had for one another...

 ðŸ’— Such precious moments💗
Make time for the ones you love...

A New Visitor to Prunella's Patch...

This Summer has been one for sitting outside in the warmth and enjoying the sights and sounds of nature.
One dear little friend has been sadly missing throughout the Spring and early Summer months of this year. Prunella's friend the Red Robin...

She has sorely missed him hopping around the flower beds whilst weeding.
She has missed him visiting her bird table whilst indulging in afternoon tea and cakes.
Yes, her lovely neighbour has Robins, but much to her dismay they haven't really ventured into Prunella's Patch. Not like her dear old friend.
Imagine her joy when this little youngster started visiting...

He is a little shy and a little wary but Prunella is hoping it wont be long before he too is following her around the garden.
💗
This has been a good year for Prunella's red rose Munstead Wood. It has flowered continuously with the most delicious scent...

This red Harlequin Ladybird has been doing an excellent job of keeping the greenfly at bay...

Large self seeded dark red poppies found their way into Prunella's flowerbeds much to the delight of the bees and hoverflies...

Since this post's theme is red, last but not least, Prunella's favourite visitor, Ed the magnificent Red Kite...

A Walk on the Wild Side in Prunella's Patch...

Prunella loves her outings in the car. No matter where her journey takes her in Jumping Jimny it's always nice to return home...

On arriving home this particular day, Prunella was surprised to see this little fellow staring back at her through the windscreen.
He reminded Prunella of Jiminy Cricket (Prunella is a big fan)...

He is actually a grass hopper and goodness knows when he hopped aboard.
He was thankfully unharmed and it wasn't long before he had catapulted himself
onto the fence...

Grasshoppers are more than welcome to join Prunella along with the birds and the bees in her Patch. She just hopes that her beautiful bird families make her new garden visitor feel welcome rather than seeing him as a tasty crunchy snack!

After spotting the grasshopper, Prunella thought it would be an excellent idea to have a mini safari in her own garden. She couldn't resist checking out her cacti first for any exotic signs of life before setting off outdoors...

Prunella wasn't out the door two seconds before she spotted a green shield bug (Palomena prasina) on the wall of her home...

Followed shortly after by two Gatekeeper butterflies (Pyronia tithonus) fluttering over her fence. One kindly settled briefly...

Prunella loves all things soft and cuddly so she was ecstatic when she discovered this furry Bumble Bee on her sunflower and another resting on her garage door...

Sadly Prunella's hydrangea is attractive to the odd fly...

What a shame her resident Zebra Spider (Salticus scenicus) hadn't spotted it. He loves to pounce on Prunella's pests...

You can see why it is so named...

And finally a small grey moth successfully camouflaging itself on Prunella's shed door...

Perhaps he was admiring Prunella's butterfly above...
